Most of the island’s population tends to be, multilingual.

The majority of the locals speak fluently English, apart from Greek which is the official country’s language. Italian is also very often used, due to fact that Rhodes island had been occupied for many years by the Italians.

In addition very big percentage of the population speaks well to fluently, languages, such as German, Swedish, Norwegian, Russian, Turkish among others. This happens because the island’s economy, based on the travel/hotels industry were most of the people work.
