KALAVARDA BEACH
ABOUT
Not far from the interesting and ancient ruins of Kamiros is the town of Kalavarda. It is a beautiful little town and very traditional. It’s not far from Rhodes town or the airport so it is a great place to base yourself if you want to be in a more serene location. It is close enough to the capital to visit The Valley of The Butterflies and Profitis Ilias as a day trip, yet far enough away to be tranquil.

Kalavarda beach is lovely and not crowded. There are sunbeams and umbrellas available if you want to rent them, but the beach is sandy and soft. The water is clean and crystal clear and warm and perfect for kids as it is quite sheltered.

The town itself boasts some very fine tavernas serving excellent seafood. This is a very traditional little Greek village, subsisting mostly agriculture and less reliant on tourism. That means you find fantastic food in the restaurants here as well as a very relaxed way of life. There are lots of trails to take walks up into the mountains and the scenery and wildlife here are among the best on the island.
