MALONAS
ABOUT
Malonas village sits in a valley some 38 km from Rhodes Town. It is in the heart of the island’s orange and olive producing region and is today still a working village without much influence from tourism. The rivers Has and Plataneros lie on opposite side of the village, but run dry during the summer.

The village is ideal for visitors who want to experience authentic Rhodes culture without overwhelming crowds. The atmosphere here is peaceful, relaxed, and friendly. The traditional rectangular houses are still the scene of family gatherings and home cooked meals. In addition to these houses there are some interesting sites in the area. The 18th century Aghios Georgios church has many beautiful features and the views from Saint Irene church are amazing. A few kilometres away in Charaki on the coast you’ll find the Feraklos Castle. Just outside Malonas is Skoutouljaris Canyon, a place of natural beauty that is an excellent hiking location. The nearest beach is the picturesque Agathi, just a short drive away.
