On the island of the Apocalypse, the International Film Festival of Patmos, will take place for the fourth year in a row, between the 24th & 30th of July.
«With the creativity and love for the culture, being the main tools, we create from the scratch an outdoor cinema, converting a protected by Unesco school space to documentaries vision place. Along with Patmos Aktis hotel, we are organising a 7 days screenings, seminars and side events» the responsible of the Festival, explaining.
The program includes 10 long duration films, 40 short duration films and 17 documentaries. Upon entry the vertebrate documentary «Life in the Borderlands». will be displayed, which consists of five independent, short duration films, presenting special characters portraits of Patmos Island.Among the films that will be screened is «Little England» by Pantelis Voulgaris, the «Her» of Spike Jones, the «Grande Bellezza» of Paolo Sorrentino and many other winning one movies.In tribute to the «Women behind the camera» apart from movies that have been filmed by women, have been also invited and expected at the festival, Mrs Valeria Golino and the Iranian actor, writer and director of the film «From Tehran to London», Mrs Mania Akbar.
Because of the four seminars will take place, for scenario writing, important artists have been invited, such as the Argentine writer and director Mr Santiago Amigorena.In regards to this year’s «scenario writing competition», titled «Fade In», which is being organised during the festival, giving the chance to young / dynamic and much promising film writers, see their scenario, becoming a short duration movie, there are 424 candidates.
The members of the jury, Mr Tasos Boulmetis (director), Mrs Alexandra Busan (producer), Mr Steve Krikris (director, artistic director of the International Film Festival of Patmos), Mr Gregory Kokkinakis (Head Motion OTE TV channels and VOD) and Mrs Agatha Dalasi (screenwriter, SUGARHIGH lab director, head competition), will announce the names of the five winners on July the 15th!
