Rhodes to host the Taekwondo Beach World Championship!


The Taekwondo Beach World Championshipwill be held for the second time on the historic island of Rhodes from April 25th to April 28th 2018, continuing the development of this particular competition. The new championship will attract the interest of the international sports community once again, as hundreds of athletes from around the world will claim the opportunity to become world champions. The races will take place at the Rhodes Naval Club, which will be specially organized for the World Championship. Dr Chungwon Choue, the President of the World Federation, said: "We are delighted to announce that the beautiful island of Rhodes will once again host the Taekwondo Beach World Championship. Last year was our first Championship and I have no doubt that this year's event is even more spectacular.

Beach taekwondo is a celebration of our sport and reflects our values ​​of participation and accessibility. Athletes do not just compete with taekwondo but experience the sport outdoors in the natural environment. This sport also connects taekwondo with young athletes and young audiences. We are dedicated to the continuous development and innovation of our sport to make it fun and exciting for our athletes and fans and beach taekwondo succeeds just that. " The event is organized under the auspices of the Taekwondo World Federation and the Organizing Committee consists of the Taekwondo European Federation, the administration of the South Aegean Region, the Municipality of Rhodes, Sports Traveler 76, and Chairman of the Organizing Committee is the President of the European Taekwondo Federation, Sakis Pragos. Like last year, the Golden Sponsor of the Championship will be Daedo International, which continues to support taekwondo innovation. The Medieval City of Rhodes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will host the Opening Ceremony at the Melina Mercouri Theater.
