Lindos looks much the same as it did when I first set foot on this hallowed ground as a four-year-old child back in 1979 and this is how it will look forever more, with a charm oozing from every viewing point that never loses its appeal.
That first visit almost 40 years ago provided something of a culture shock to the locals, with our 25-strong party that included a host of Irish musicians arriving with their bagpipes, fiddles and guitars and staging impromptu traditional music sessions in bars that had never seen the like of it.
You can imagine the scene, with the local police struggling to know whether to toast the uninvited house band or arrest the perpetration for noise pollution, but thankfully a middle ground was found and my Dad just about avoided being carted off to a Greek prison for interrogation!
