The history of the location where the Monastery of Tharri is built, is lost within the centuries. Historians and archaeologists are saying that at this location an ancient temple of Apollo was built. During the 5th century a small church was built upon the ruins of the temple.
The current temple of Archangel Michael was built between 9th and 11th century by a princess that suffered from an illness that could not be cured and the Archangel cure her by a miracle. To his grace she built this fine church.
