The Region of South Aegean, in collaboration with the Apollon Association of Rhodes, organizes the triathlon competition "OCEAN LAVA RHODES 2018 - 113 & 226".
For the first time the race was co-organized on 30th of October 2016 under the title "Ocean Lava Rhodes 2016". This race was awarded nationwide as the Top Rated Event for the year 2016.
For 2017 the expectations were higher and an even bigger race was organized: Triathlon 70 Km (1.9 Km Swim - 90 Km Bike - 21 Km Run) held on October 29, 2017 in the city center of Rhodes. A triathlon race of this distance takes place only one throughout Greece and has collected 150 entries from both Greek and foreign athletes.
For this year, the organization of the Southern Aegean Region and the DOAR, under the auspices of the Hellenic Federation of Modern Pentathlon and the Apollo Rhodes Triathlon Association, has even higher expectations in order to become unique to the Balkans and the broader zone of the Eastern Mediterranean, titled: "OCEAN LAVA RHODES 2018 - 113 & 226".
The race will take place on October 21st, 2018, in Faliraki, 11 kilometers from the center of Rhodes Town.
The race is double and includes two races with different distance and different start time, different time limits but on the same routes.
The prolongation of the tourist season, the promotion of Rhodes as a destination and alternative forms of tourism, and of course, the emergence of Triathlon, is the goal of the organizers, in a 16-hour superhuman struggle.
