Over twelve void structures in a standout amongst Greece's most grand areas — the UNESCO-recorded Old Town of Rhodes — are being offered for rent in the coming weeks, a service official said Wednesday.


A large portion of the state-possessed structures, which go back to the eighteenth and nineteenth century, will be transformed into homes or little lodgings, and the rest will be rented as shops, said Maria Michailidou, leader of the artifacts body for the more extensive Dodecanese island gather that covers Rhodes.


"The vast majority of them are in poor condition," Michailidou said.


"Whoever leases them will have the duty of reestablishing them," she said.


The biggest island of the Dodecanese, Rhodes was involved by the Knights of St John of Jerusalem from 1309 to 1523, preceding they expelled by the Ottoman Turks and migrated to Malta.
